And the 'Baby' mentioned in the title, is me.

So for those who don't know, I used to be in radio for 25+ years. Up until October 2020 I had enjoyed a pretty successful career behind the mic, entertaining audiences, having a blast. That is, until some a$$hole decided my time was done at my long-term radio station. Story for another time.

Anyway, as a testament to just how hot and cold being a voice actor can be, I had a moment of weakness. I applied for a radio job. [DUH DUH DUUUUUH!] Hosting a morning show like I was for 13 years? No but kinda. I won't get into details but it was in the ballpark of what I had been doing, with people I knew. I applied, sent my demo tape, resume and emailed the guy who does the hiring. He sent me the corporate job applicaton link and said let's talk next week about the job. Oh! So why did I apply for it when voiceover has actually been trending in the right direction for me? You know...I really don't have a good answer for that. I think there's always this little 'radio itch' that we (radio people) all get when we're out of it. It's such a unique and fun job (usually) that you always kind of think you can find that again. That, coupled with the unpredictability of voiceover and a wife who's full-time job is always in question, leads to a lot of insecurity. Also, my head's been a little 'off' since Dad died. Maybe just a confluence of all the right things made it a mistake. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go make voices into a microphone.
